A crumbling rose

A fragrance lingering from years ago
Still having the power to generate knock-knees
I wonder when the delete button will work
or if permanent damage has occurred.

I have let the time dust accumulate
never bothered to wipe or shine.
Yet the sharp arrow glints in the moonlight
as if neglect has strengthened its resolve .

It mellows me when I least expect,
a pop-up window that refuses to be blocked
I wonder if my heart is a scheming foe,
it seems to rejoice when reason flounders.

Let the memory live for old times sake
I sigh and reconcile with the plan.
Though who made it I no longer know
as long it brings a sweet dream tonight.

  1. I think I can say this is my favorite from you! And what a good choice of image! The rose looks so divine in the sepia colors!

I wonder when the delete button will work
or if permanent damage has occurred.

Having the same thoughts very often, I like this poem because I can relate to the feelings!

    Well done Reena!
