Elastic

 It pulls me apart

 The need to be free

and yet not go too far

 A rubber band

 with an anchoring rock

I can pull with all I have, snap

 and lose my identity

 or rebound and smash myself

 if I get cold feet

I envy now the dragon fly

 who would clutch

and then let go of the stone

It knew its limits

 in captivity

 I know not mine

 even though free.
