Jungle dawn

A small clearing amidst the trailing vines

A window into another world

A mushroom nods imperceptibly

as a green shadow glides by

A cheetah sleeps on a brown branch

its tail tuft twitching gently

A few deer rest some yards away

in a truce called by the failing light

A butterfly with eyes on its wings

alights for a second

closing, opening

Two dew drops fall in unison

from two different trees

The sun hesitates,

mopping frosty droplets from his face

reluctant to wake up the dreamy glade

No flurry in the forest at dawn

only life going on.
