A gleaming river crawls on all fours
between fiberglass and loose sand
surreal as the easy life in this built-up jungle
if one has a map
I do not
The city rolls down the road
at 3 in the morning
escorted by tall giraffes of light
The darkness having no place to go
comes and settles upon the watcher
mewing like a hungry kitten
insistent that I break my peace
to feed the little pariahs of doubt
waiting at the edge of dreams
