Only on Me

282816_415809041872288_1794772424_nThe cloud bursts
the rain rains
An afternoon showers
upon a deserted lane
The wind ruffles the long grass
saving its whispers for a silent night
for nothing here must burst or fade
neither the memory-bubble
nor the sepia-light
A ship floats away
the horizon leans on the bay
watching white sails unfurl
Life uncorks wine after wine
prime strawberries, aging grapes
a long ginger finish
to see the ship through the day
but the rain
It’s never the same again
