Dismantling

Istanbul, Turkey March 2014

This insistence on peeling skins
Of biting into the fruit’s flesh
The need to feel the juice ooze down brown skin
is but raw passion overflowing
beyond hunger
It stirs up green sunlight
in unsaturated corners
Makes some eyes see thirst in red
rather than in the purest
of colourless hues
The secret is to let the peel remain
and the fruit left looking un-bruised
though letting the juices run amok
within you
Strip the husk, pluck the petals
The receptacle is just another greedy cup
