Seven years is no age to die
It is just a number on the counting road to ten
She had probably no time to see a rainbow
till today
when she felt the blast tear the little life
out of her
They who loved her
cared and kept her safe
she wanted to please them
as all children do
puppy devotion to the father figures in their lives
she took the things they gave her
learnt the way the buttons worked
or perhaps she didn’t have to
when the remote was in steadier hands
hands that never caressed a trusting cheek
but used her as one would use a hose pipe
to spray death on living streets
Seven is no age to become (in)famous
or to put your town on the map of grisly horrors
Damn it
Seven is no age to kill or be killed
